Blog And Ping Is Dead
Unfortunately, this formerly reliable method of getting listed in Yahoo seems to be dead. I have used it a few times over the last month to try to get some new pages listed in Yahoo and there has been no action at all.
Previously, you could easily slip through the back door in Yahoo by setting up a blog on blogger.com or another blogger website. Then set up a MyYahoo page and subscribe to your own blog on that page. It was simple and fast. Then all you had to do to get a page listed was to blog that webpage with a link to it and presto - you were listed.
Unfortunately, this method was the subject of that old internet problem - spam. Instead of getting a few pages once in a while from various webmasters, Yahoo has been inundated with sometimes hundreds of pages a day from webmasters who never even looked at their MyYahoo page.
It would have been logical for Yahoo to have set it up so that you had to look at MyYahoo once in a while to notice the blog that you posted, but that was not the case.
In any event, Blog and Ping seems for the moment to be dead. So, until the next traffic flash in the pan comes along, I would be a bit wary of any ebook or package that claims to give you an inside track into the search engines.

To Blog Or Not To Blog - A Laymans View
We have now entered the world of blogs! Sounds kind of Harry Potterish, doesn't it?If you're over 20 years old, you probably think this is some crazy sci-fi phenomenon, or I've simply lost my mind. Don't fret, the vast majority of people don't know what a blog is all about and more importantly, why it matters to them.If you're under 20 you can stop reading because you probably know all about blogs, and the value they have in shar...(related: Blogging)
Why Every Site Needs Rss
RSS or 'Really Simple Syndication' is not just for Blogs and News sites. Every website can benefit from this newly popular technology. The term 'syndication' is what throws a lot of people off the track. Syndication is like news articles, isn't it?Well it can be. But think of it like this. If you had a bricks-and-mortar store and decided to carry a new product line, how would you let people know? You could advertise of course, but a better and free alternative is to send a news release to the local paper. Their business section may carry your announcement free of charge. Now back to our cyber-store in virtual space. If you add a new...(related: Blogging)
Rss More Effective Than Email
Long have I been proclaiming the effectiveness of RSS as a communications channel for non personal communications over that of email. The protection and anonymity that RSS can offer over email means that it is fast becoming the preferred medium for many users. It seems visitors to your site now put more trust in RSS as they are five times more likely to subscribe to an RSS feed as they are to the equivalent information via email.A recent article from Rok Hrastnik at Marketing Studies shows that there is greater trust in RSS over email as well as RSS bein...(related: Blogging)

Building Backlinks With Blogs
The most boring part of getting traffic to a website is getting backlinks. This is hard, boring, time consuming work. You spend hours finding relevant websites to link to, then spend hours more sending emails requesting backlinks, or submitting your sites to there links pages. And at the end of the day (actually in a few weeks), you have ½ a dozen new reciprocal link partners. that's good and all, but it bores the living hell out of me, and I don't have time for it. And they are only reciprocal links.One-way linksFar better are one way links back to your pages. These are from websites that link to your site without you having to reciprocate. They are the best links to have, and the best way to get them in the past has been by submitting articles to places like directories, ezines and forums where other ...(related: Blogging)

How To Add Random Rss Content To Your Site
Most savvy internet marketers will know how important it is to have fresh content added to their sites on a daily basis but the problem sometimes is to find the time and/or content. Adding an RSS feed is a good way to add fresh content to a site, but the problem again is that most of them only get updated on a weekly basis.I have been wracking my brains trying to find a semi- automated way to do this to make my life a little bit easier. The sear...(related: Blogging)
