Airport Travel Tips: Reducing Waiting Times

Aviation

Key Travel Tips

Following these tips will help you reduce your wait time at the security checkpoint.

Before you go to the Airport

? Do not pack or bring Prohibited Items to the airport.

? Place valuables such as jewelry, cash and laptop computers in carry-on baggage only.

? Tape your business card to the bottom of your laptop.

? Avoid wearing clothing, jewelry and accessories that contain metal. Metal items may set off the alarm on the metal detector.

? Avoid wearing shoes that contain metal or have thick soles or heels. Many types of footwear will require additional screening even if the metal detector does not alarm.

? Put all undeveloped film and cameras with film in your carry-on baggage. Checked baggage screening equipment will damage undeveloped film.

? Declare firearms & ammunition to your airline and place them in your checked baggage.

? If you wish to lock your baggage, use a TSA-recognized lock.

? Do not bring lighters or prohibited matches to the airport.

? Do not pack wrapped gifts and do not bring wrapped gifts to the checkpoint. Wrap on arrival or ship your gifts prior to your departure. TSA may have to unwrap packages for security reasons.

While at the Airport

Each adult traveler needs to keep available his/her airline boarding pass and government-issued photo ID until exiting the security checkpoint. Due to different airport configurations, at many airports you will be required to display these documents more than once.

? Place the following items IN your carry-on baggage or in a plastic bag prior to entering the screening checkpoint:

o Mobile phones

o Keys

o Loose change

o Money clips

o PDA's (personal data assistants)

o Large amounts of jewelry

o Metal hair decorations

o Large belt buckles

? Take your laptop and video cameras with cassettes OUT of their cases and place them in a bin provided at the checkpoint.

? Take OFF all outer coats, suit coats, jackets and blazers.

So you love airplanes and you want to start an aircraft washing service? I cannot blame you, as I did the same thing. Named the Aircraft Wash Guys we learned early on what it takes to sat...(related: Aviation)

Group Check-in At Airports
Plan Ahead For A Smooth Check-in and FlightWhen traveling with a group through a major airport, here are some tips to help things go smoothly while reducing your personal stress level:1. Resist the temptation to hold on to everyone's tickets until they get in line at the terminal. Once your group is in line they will likely move through the agents VERY quickly. Give the tickets to the participants before they leave the bus.2. As your group gets off the bus, take a moment to go inside and ask an agent where you should take your group. Most airlines have a special group check-in line that may or may not be where you expect it to be.3. Before getting in line at the counter, organize your participants into group...(related: Aviation)

Concorde Crash Conspiracy - It Could Have Been Prevented
In studying the Concorde crash the investigators determined it was caused by debris on the runway, which had fallen off a Continental Airlines Aircraft, which went down the same runway prior to the Concorde. Some thought the crash was an International Terrorist Attack. Had the debris, which had fallen off been known it could have been picked up prior to the Concorde's take off roll.In fact debris on run ways is common, I have seen stuff on runways myself during takeoff rolls, usually it is so...(related: Aviation)

Inflatable Slots For Stol
Short Take Off and Landing Aircraft are extremely valuable in commercial, private, government and military aviation. It is important for safety and for performance. Private Jet Ownership Indeed
Wouldn't you like to own your own private jet? Have you ever thought about it? Many of us have and you know what it is not all that expensive as you might think after all. Private jet ownership is really taking off these days. As a matter of fact manufacturers of business aircraft are quite happy with the market sector and most are completely bullish on their future prospects in the industry. There is much interest in the private transportation sector and jet aircraft business. Fractional Jet ownership has never been easier. While we are nearing the top of a classic business cycle we see good economic conditions. Business Jet sales and fractional ownership continue to rise; in fact one aircraft manufacturing in a press release stated that they predict; "8,300 business jet ...(related: Aviation)

Aerodynamic Inflatable Wing Gates For Stol
Low speed flight characteristic are crucial to safety. Those aircraft that have good flight characteristics at low speeds are favored by pilots and the companies, military, NGO or private individuals who operate them. One way to increase positive slow speed flight characteristics is to install vertical gates on top of the wings of the aircraft to keep the air flowing over the wing at slow speeds. The only problem is that at high speeds these gates may also cause increased parasite drag which effects performance.I propose inflatable wing gates to pop up on modern day aircraft to allow for slower stall speeds on landing. This will increase tire and decrease landing speeds for increased safety. Additionally it will assist the aircraft by decreasing take roll. The gates ...(related: Aviation)

General Aviation Manufacturing Is In The Tank; Hang On It Is Going To Get Worse
Change is a constant, Outsourcing Jobs, Capital flows, Emerging Markets are a given and this includes the Aviation Manufacturing Sector as we watch the current Migration pick up speed. It appears that the technological advantage that we have here in the United States is no longer going to sustain us without further advances. Previously our work in aerodynamics (during and after WWII), our industrial capacity and our ongoing capitalization of the aerospace industry was enough to keep us ahead of the game. Currently in the US we see job losses in the aerospace mount in cities like Everett, WA and Wichita, KS. We see other areas trying to carve out a niche in the aviation manufacturing m...(related: Aviation)
